About the grape variety
The most planted Fetească, responsible for fresh, aromatic whites in Romania. Berry colour: white
Fetească Regală, literally ‘royal young girl’, was first observed in the 1920s in the village of Daneș near Sighișoara, Transilvania, Romania, hence its synonym Dănășană. It was initially cultivated by a nurseryman called Gașpari from the town of Mediaș, who distributed it under the German name Dunesdörfer Königsast (Dejeu 2004), literally ‘king’s branch from Dunes village’. The wine obtained from this variety was then presented by Gașpari at the National Wine and Fruit Exhibition in Bucharest in 1928 under the name Fetească Regală, which was then adopted.
About La Spata Winery
"Our business is the fruit of a project which reflects the criteria of ethical investment. Apart from the splendid geographical location and the potential of the land, we have also felt that this investment could lead to some kind of social change.
The population here has experienced moments of great difficulty, and even now, through necessity, many have to rely on their own resources to get by. As a result of this difficulty, many Romanians have had to emigrate to the cities and abandon the country and the vineyards.
It would be a real shame to do nothing to reverse this tendency. By preventing this exodus and by managing to ensure work for the population, the important tradition of wine production in the region will not be lost." (Roberto & Roberto, founders of La Sapata)
Roberto di Filippo is a passionate winemaker. Natural viticulture is his life, and he has made his dream into reality. He spends his time with the horses who help him cultivate the vineyards, and his concerns in Italy and Romania. You are unlikely to find him in a jacket and tie, but in boots and clothes more suitable for the vineyard.
Roberto Pieroni is a true wine-enthusiast.Although an agricultural entrepreneur in another field he is excited by the prospect of producing quality wines in his second Homeland.

How to recycle
How to recycle
Up to 90% of new glass can be made from recycled glass. If you’re getting ready for a night out on the town, drink consciously and remember to keep your empties and then bring to the bottle bank. If you’re hoping to leave future generations with a healthy-ish and useful environment, then recycling wine bottles is the way forward and it doesn’t take much effort.
